My husband has Lyme Disease and was diagnosed with the active Lyme back in October of last year. He still has lingering issues (constant headaches, aches and pains) and is fearful of committing to a physical exercise routine in fears of it triggering the symptoms. Is there a definitive remedy besides medication?
I'm experiencing a lot of joint degeneration, beginning with knees, now hips, shoulders, and ankles. My doctor has tested for autoimmune issues such as RA, but I'm negative for those events. I live in a heavily wooded area with three dogs and a significant wildlife population. I've never been tested for Lyme. Should I be tested for Lyme in light of the joint issues? I can't recall a specific tick attachment in the past several years, but deer ticks are so small! I do find them infrequently on the dogs once engorged.
Is it normal to suffer from long-term impacts of Lyme Disease? It has been over 2 years since I was diagnosed, causing some nerve damage. To this day I suffer from reoccurring nervous/panic attacks.
Thanks for your questions! We have several questions in the queue and our doctors are hard at work answering. If you have submitted a question, your question will be answered as we catch up!
What is the recommend wait period before being tested for Lyme disease? We believe my husband was bitten by a tick in the beginning of June and the NP didn't feel it was necessary to test since he was seen within days of getting bit. She prescribed an antibotic for him to take but I'm still concerned that he could test positive.
Is there evidence that Lyme's Disease can affect your immune system? Years down the road make it more difficult to recover from illnesses? Had Lymes in 2012, dr prescribed 3 weeks of doxicycaline; this past winter had a very hard time overcoming a double respitory infection.
I was diagnosed in Oct. with Lyme. I did the 30 days of antibiotics. In March i suddenly started feeling really bad. My entire body hurt. I was retested and it was positive again. I did another30 days of antibiotics, but a couple days after the course was done i started feeling worse. Now i'm doing a 90 day course. Is this a good treatment plan. I still have alot of joint and muscle pain

we keep hearing about "tick" bites... do you mean deer ticks specifically , or should we be wary of all ticks. It's hard to know the difference once the
I removed an attacked deer tick on June 27-area was red and bruised, was probably attached for 4 days, took 200 mg Doxycycline on June 28-now have bullseye rash but no sysytemic symptoms. Is that prophylaxis enough treatment?
