Welcome to the PinnacleHealth Heart Failure Live Chat Event! Heart failure doesn’t have to do with heart attacks or surgery. It’s a chronic, progressive illness. Heart failure means that the heart is not pumping blood through the body as well as it should. While there is no cure for heart failure, many people with this disease can improve the function of their heart and lead active lives because they have learned to take good care of themselves.On February 4 at 1pm on this page, Dr. Pawlush and Kim will talk about symptoms and causes, how to manage the symptoms of heart failure, how is treated, how to avoid hospitalizations, and local resources.

My question is not about heart failure, but Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Why is it that a nation such as ours, with the technology we have, we cannot make strides in preventing the unnecessary death from SCA. 300,000 people a year do not survive a SCA when 60% are witnessed. AED's are proven to increase the survival rate from 7-10% to 50-75% if deployed in the first 2 minutes. In a town such as mine, Lower Allen Township that has 17,000 residents, that would mean having about 1,000 AED's. That would be a cost of about 1.5 million dollars. Using an app on a smart phone, AED's would be there when needed.

I've heard that L-Arginine supplements help blood circulation and cardiovascular health, is there any evidence to support this?

What happens if I'm diagnosed with heart failure. Do I get hospitalized? I've had murmurs and I'm afraid of this type of diagnosis?

i quit smoking 7 1/2 years ago but i did smoke a lot at that time.....am i a risk for heart failure now? i feel healthy, i am 49 years old
